The Need

IT analyst forecasts are unable to keep pace with the dramatic rise in cybercrime, the ransomware epidemic, the refocusing of malware from PCs and laptops to smartphones and mobile devices, the deployment of billions of under-protected Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the legions of hackers-for-hire, and the more sophisticated cyber-attacks launching at businesses, governments, educational institutions, and consumers globally. Nasscom envisages the Indian IT industry to achieve a size of $350-400 billion by 2025. Given the existing status and the possibility of rapid growth, India should aspire to build a cybersecurity product and services industry of $35 billion by 2025, and generate a skilled workforce of one million in the security sector, to cater to the rise in global demand.
